September 9-15, 2024 marks the 10th edition of European Battery Recycling Week. This year's theme is “Together, let's keep on recycling”.
European Battery Recycling Week is organized by EUCOBAT, the European association of national battery collection schemes, which ensures that all battery waste is collected and recycled in an environmentally-friendly way, thus helping to improve the environment.
Let's salute our guide, the Corepile ant, which is accompanying us across France, making it easier for us to take daily steps to look after our environment!
At AURA PLASTIC Industrie's, we adopted the Corepile attitude several years ago.
So this week, let's play the role of cicadas!...
We've asked Corepile to supply us with collection cubes for used batteries, which will be made available within the company for anyone who wants to take them home. With over 60,000 collection points, there's certainly one close to home..
Recycling, yes, but why?
Recycling reduces toxic waste and therefore preserves our health and natural resources.
Reducing pollution
Collecting batteries at collection points prevents toxic substances such as mercury, cadmium and lead from contaminating soil and water.
Saving natural resources
Zinc, iron, nickel, lithium, etc. can be reused to make new batteries or other products. This reduces the need to extract new natural resources.
Reducing waste
Recycling batteries reduces the quantity of waste sent to landfill or incinerated. This helps to reduce the overall ecological footprint and preserve natural spaces.
Saving energy
The production of new equipment will generally require less energy by using recovered materials rather than virgin raw materials.
Job creation
The recycling sector creates jobs in the collection, sorting and processing of waste. This has a positive impact on the local and national economy.
Raising awareness and education
Battery recycling programmes raise awareness of the importance of waste management and encourage more responsible and sustainable behaviour.
What happens next?
